Splinterlands is a collectible card game (CCG) for PC (Windows), browser and mobile (Android/iOS), where each player assembles a team of up to 6 cards from their deck before the battle is played out automatically in a quick, action-packed format, and according to a unique set of battle conditions that make every match different. The core game features fast-paced card battles, 6 unique factions, several PVP and PVE game modes, strategic depth, extensive lore, and play to earn mechanisms. Splinterlands integrates blockchain technology (Hive and Ethereum) to record and secure ownership of digital assets earned or purchased by players, namely NFT assets (e.g. cards, land, skins, boosts) and cryptocurrency. Splinterlands has its own cryptocurrencies ($SPS, $DEC), NFT marketplace, and decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

Blockchain Integration
Splinterlands features decentralized governance through DAO protocols, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade most in-game digital assets (e.g. cards, land, skins, boost items, currency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Hive blockchain to record and secure transactions and ownership of said assets. Splinterlands also has its own cryptocurrencies, $SPS, which serves as a player reward token, and DAO governance token, and $DEC, which serves as the primary in-game currency.
Splinterlands isn’t currently open source. While ownership of digital assets and governance may be decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is shut down prematurely.
