Star Atlas sells over $450K worth of NFT cards in less than 24 hours

All 5,000 randomized NFT card packs were purchased in less than 24 hours.

All 5,000 Pre-Sale Crew Pack bundles from the Galactic Marketplace, worth over 450K USDC, were purchased in less than 24 hours after Michael Wagner, ATMTA’s CEO, announced the pre-sale during his presentation at the Solana Crossroads event.

The NFT Crew Pack Bundles sold were 10-card packs containing unique, randomly generated NFT crew member cards that are expected to grant extra perks to player fleets and infrastructures. A total of 5,000 packs (50,000 crew members) of the highest tier were purchased at 90 USDC each (9 USDC / card) through the pre-sale event.

Not all packs were opened by their owners. Some have made their way onto the secondary market and are being offered at prices ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 atlas tokens, that is, roughly 120-140 USDC at today’s market price.

Prices of individual cards on the secondary market are being offered for sale at prices ranging from 4,000 to 2,500,000 Atlas, that is, roughly 16 to 10,000 USDC at today’s market price.

Not usable in-game yet

Aside from their rarity, the NFT cards are designed to provide gameplay utility in the upcoming game Star Atlas. The characters featured come with diverse traits, personalities and skills covering seven different crew aptitudes (command, flight, engineering, medical, scientist, operator, and hospitality) that play a role in supporting their owner’s fleet and infrastructures, and provide XP perks based on rarity.

For now these NFT assets aren’t usable in-game as Star Atlas is still in its early development stage. Some of the game modes showcased thus far do look neat and promising, but there is still a long way before these crew members can deliver on actual gameplay.

While prices for these NFTs are still relatively high considering their lack of immediate intrinsic value (outside of collecting and speculation), Star Atlas has made sure that they remain somewhat affordable, with prices being almost equivalent to that of microtransactions found throughout the GaaS industry. To this end, Star Atlas uses the Solana network, which offers reduced minting and transaction processing costs.

New round of Crew Packs incoming

New Crew Pack bundles featuring every rarity tier will soon be available on the Galactic Marketplace. The upcoming event, which will likely feature 5 and 10-card packs, will be announced on Star Atlas’ communication and social media channels.
