The Watch is a free-to-play multiplayer real-time strategy (RTS) game for PC (Windows) by The Pyramid Watch. In a blend of action real-time strategy and MOBA, two opposing armies of futuristic heroes battle to destroy each other’s bases. Players must build and manage their Battle Decks, deploy units, activate powerful abilities, and engage in strategic play to outmaneuver and defeat their opponents by dismantling their defenses and eliminating their Core. Additionally, The Watch integrates blockchain technology (Ethereum) to record and secure ownership of optional game-related digital assets earned or purchased by players such as NFTs (e.g. units, cosmetics, passes) and cryptocurrency ($DATA).
Game Features
- Unit Management: Players build their armies by selecting from various specialized units with unique attack styles and damage capabilities. Units gain experience to become powerful veterans, enhancing future gameplay.
- Special Abilities: Players can activate powerful abilities known as “Blocks,” including gravity manipulation, space cannons, and poison artillery. Battle Decks can include up to eleven Blocks, allowing for tailored offensive and defensive strategies.
- Tower Defense: Turrets are crucial defensive structures that deal significant damage and can be moved strategically to secure key areas of the battlefield.
- Capture & Domination: Capturing platforms scattered across the map grants strategic advantages, enabling players to deploy units closer to the enemy and push toward the opponent’s Core.
Blockchain Integration
The Watch integrates blockchain technology outside of the core game to allow web3-friendly players to effectively own and trade game-related digital assets (e.g. units, cosmetics, abilities, passes, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum and Immutable blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof.
The Watch is not open source. While ownership of digital assets may be decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
