The Bornless is an upcoming action-horror first-person shooter (FPS) for PC (Windows) by Cathedral Studios. The game is set in the eerie, Lovecraftian-inspired world of Farmouth Island, a remote place that players attempt to extract from. Blending PvP and PvE elements, players face demonic forces, rival factions, and the haunting mysteries of the island, while emphasizing strategic resource gathering, survival through dark rituals, and the wielding of Black Magick. Progression is marked by the ability to upgrade Safehouses, customize characters, and unite in factions. Additionally, the game has external ties with blockchain technology (Ethereum) to record and secure ownership of optional game-related NFT assets (e.g. non-utility collectibles).
Game Features
- Rituals & Black Magick: Players use Black Magick abilities and perform dangerous rituals that expose players to heightened threats from both demons and rivals.
- PvPvE Combat: Combat features a mix of player-versus-player battles and player-versus-environment threats, with demonic entities and cultists roaming the island.
- Dynamic World Exploration: From dense forests to abandoned settlements, players can utilize the terrain for strategic advantages, including the use of vehicles to traverse the map quickly or to stage surprise attacks.
- Customizable Loadouts: Players can mix and match weapons with Black Magick abilities, creating personalized and upgradable loadouts that suit their combat style.
- Loot & Extract: Successfully completing objectives and extracting from the island increases players’ power and grants rarity-based rewards.
- Safehouse Progression: Players can expand and upgrade their Safehouse from a basic cabin to a fortified base using resources from the island. Safehouses act as hubs for preparing strategies and gear before each mission.
- Faction Alliances: Players can form or join factions, working together to complete larger objectives and participate in seasonal campaigns.
- Seasonal Content and Rewards: New challenges, quests, and items each season, with exclusive rewards available to players who complete seasonal objectives.
Blockchain Integration
The Bornless only integrates blockchain technology outside of the game to allow web3-friendly players to effectively own and trade non-utility, game-related digital assets (e.g. collectibles) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum blockchain to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof. 
The Bornless is not open source. While ownership of digital assets may be decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
Ownable (NFTs)
- Founder Items : NFT items totalling 666 units that were sold to early adopters and that may give owners access to exclusive content (view on opensea).
- Collectibles: Items that may be found in the game and optionally collected/traded as NFTs outside of the game (to be confirmed).
