Shrapnel is an upcoming competitive extraction Shooter (FPS) for PC (Windows) where players are operators who take on missions to extract loot from specific map areas after a massive asteroid called has collided with the moon, causing lunar meteorites to bombard the Earth. The core game features tactical extraction gameplay, class-based combat, gear customization and crafting (including NFT creation), map creation, and play to earn mechanisms. Shrapnel integrates blockchain technology (Avalanche, Ethereum) to record and secure ownership of digital assets earned or purchased by players, namely NFT assets (e.g. characters, skins, maps) and cryptocurrency. Shrapnel has its own currency ($SHRAP), NFT marketplace, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).

Game Features

  • Tactical Extraction: Gameplay focused on extraction, a high-stakes, multi-stage session event that encourages risk taking and rewards skill.
  • Gear and Crafting: The strategic gameplay centers on how players combine and craft different pieces of gear to customize and optimize their loadouts.
  • Class-Based Combat: Players can choose one of three character classes: Assault, Infosec, or Survivalist — each with its own skills and abilities.
  • Gear Drop on Death: Gear (in the form of NFTs) is dropped when killed in battle using a main character (higher rewards). A special character may be used to avoid gear drop (lesser rewards).
  • Creation Tools: Players have or will have access to tools that allow them to create cosmetic items, custom maps and other in-game assets that may be turned into NFTs.

Blockchain Integration

Shrapnel features decentralized governance using DAOs, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade most in-game digital assets (e.g. characters, skins, maps, currency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Avalanche and Ethereum blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership of all such digital assets. Shrapnel also has its own cryptocurrency, $SHRAP, which serves as a medium of exchange, a reward token and a governance token.
Shrapnel isn’t currently open source. While ownership of digital assets and governance are decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.

  • Gear: NFT gear (e.g. weapons, armor) that players can buy, extract in-game, and customize.
  • Skins: NFT skins for playable character, weapons, armor that can be purchased or crafted in-game.
  • Skin Fragments: NFT-backed fragments purchased or earned and used to craft skins.
  • Maps: NFT-backed, playable maps that players may create and monetize.

Cryptocurrency

$SHRAP is Shrapnel’s cryptocurrency. It serves as a DAO governance token, providing holders a share of voting rights and eco-system revenues, as a medium of exchange for NFT collectibles traded on the internal marketplace, and as a reward token. It is a fungible, Avalanche-based token limited to a total original supply of 3,000,000,000. The different ways to get $SHRAP, outside of crypto markets, are… (read more)
