MetaCene is a free-to-play, sci-fi MMO action role-playing game (ARPG) for PC (Windows), developed by Pangu Software Pte. Ltd. The game emphasizes dynamic multiplayer interactions, where players can engage in both cooperative and competitive gameplay. The world of MetaCene is structured around different zones, each with varying levels of safety and challenge. Players take on the role of Messengers of Fire, embarking on quests that include exploration, combat, and resource collection. The game integrates player-versus-environment (PVE) and player-versus-player (PVP) mechanics, offering a mix of open-world encounters, dungeon challenges, and large-scale battles. Additionally, MetaCene integrates blockchain technology (Ethereum/Mantle) to record and secure ownership of game-related digital assets earned or purchased by players such as NFTs (e.g. equipment, weapons, cosmetics, passes) and cryptocurrency ($MAK).
Game Features
- Diverse Game Regions: Different zones categorized by safety levels, including Safe Zones, Neutral Zones, Danger Zones, and Ruins Zones. These zones dictate the type of interactions players can engage in, from peaceful exploration to high-risk combat encounters.
- Mining System: Players gather materials throughout various regions. Mining is available across all zones and serves as a method for acquiring essential resources.
- Open World Gameplay: Open-world activities, including parkour racing, resource gathering, and dynamically triggered events, may be enjoyed solo or in coop.
- Dungeons: Dungeon instances incorporate Roguelike mechanics, where players navigate procedurally generated maps with randomized challenges and rewards.
- Elite Monsters & Boss Battles: Large-scale multiplayer PVE challenges, where players must collaborate to defeat powerful foes, with rewards distributed based on combat contributions.
- PVP System: Competitive gameplay occurs in designated zones. Players can engage in individual and group battles over resources and territory. Arena matches are available in 4v4 and 2v2 formats, with ranking systems and experience-based progression.
- Social & Guild Systems: Extensive player interactions, including friendships, team-based activities, and a revenge system for tracking and retaliating against in-game adversaries. Guilds allow for collaborative progression, upgrades and territorial battles.
Blockchain Integration
WhitepaperMetaCene features some form of decentralized governance using DAO protocols, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade various game-related digital assets (e.g. weapons, skins, equipment, machines, land, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum and Mantle blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof. The game integrates its own cryptocurrency, $MAK, which mostly serves as a governance and reward coin (e.g. airdrops, PVP).
MetaCene is not open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.

$MAK is the governance token of MetaCene. It can be earned through gameplay, airdrops, staking, and community participation, while its applications span purchasing NFTs, accessing exclusive content, and governance voting.
