Last Expedition is a team-based multiplayer extraction shooter (FPS) by Gala Games for PC (Windows). Players are treasure hunters who attempt to retrieve valuable alien artifacts while fighting monstrous creatures and other teams of players. The core game features PVP-PVE combined gameplay, various character classes/roles, optional AI squad mates, play to earn mechanisms, and leaderboards. Last Expedition integrates blockchain technology (GalaChain) to record and secure ownership of digital assets earned or purchased by players, namely NFT assets (e.g. character and weapon skins). It isn’t known at this stage if any crypto plays an essential role in the ecosystem.
Game Features
- PVP & PVE: Players must risk their lives to retrieve valuable alien artefacts while fighting monstrous creatures and other teams of players.
- Character Roles: Each playable character is assigned a specific role and loadout ranging from attacker to support.
- AI Squad Mates: Players can play with optional AI squad mates to ensure they have a real chance of winning while playing solo.
- Free-to-Play: The game is expected to be free. Optional purchases include cosmetic items (weapon and character skins).
- Play-to-Earn: Rewards may be earned in the form of NFTs (e.g. character and weapon skins).
Blockchain Integration
Last Expedition features decentralized server hosting through nodes, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade in-game digital assets (e.g. weapon and character skins) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the GalaChain to record and secure transactions and ownership of said assets.
Last Expedition may not be open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
