Sipher Odyssey is a free-to-play, fast-paced top-down looter shooter action RPG with rogue-lite elements for mobile (Android, iOS), developed by Ather Labs. The game features both melee and ranged combat mechanics, various single-player, coop and multiplayer modes, procedurally generated levels. Players must navigate a complex narrative while facing various adversaries, with exploration, resource management, equipment, augmentations and combat playing crucial roles in progression. Additionally, Sipher Odyssey integrates optional blockchain technology (Ethereum/Polygon) to record and secure ownership of game-related assets such as NFTs and cryptocurrencies, and to support decentralized governance in the broader Sipher ecosystem.
Game Features
- Character Customization: Players select Vessels from races like INU, NEKO, and BURU, each with distinct traits and stats. Vessels can be upgraded with augmentations and customized for different combat roles.
- Combat & Exploration: The game features fast-paced combat with varied enemy encounters in procedurally generated dungeons. Players use different equipment and augmentations to enhance their combat abilities.
- Game Modes: Sipher Odyssey offers Story Mode, where players explore dungeons and uncover the game’s narrative, and Endless Mode, where they fight waves of enemies until defeat.
- Multiplayer and Co-op: Players can team up with others for cooperative play or participate in tournaments, adding a competitive element to the game.
- Player-Driven Economy: A marketplace allows players to trade resources and equipment, supporting a player-driven economy that emphasizes crafting and trading.
Blockchain Integration
Sipher Odyssey integrates blockchain technology outside of the core game to allow web3-friendly players to effectively own and trade game-related digital assets (e.g. characters, ships, parts, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof.
Sipher Odyssey is not open source. While ownership of digital assets may be decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
Ownable (NFTs)
- Genesis Characters: The first 10,000 playable NFTs providing early access to Alpha and Beta stages, and grating exclusive benefits, including improved starter gear and enhanced shard extraction rates.
- Spaceships: Fully assembled NFT ships that boost character stats and resource capacity. They enable travel across worlds, assist with resource gathering, and provide visual flair within the game.
- Spaceship Parts: Individual NFT spaceship parts (Left Wing, Right Wing, Body, Undercarriage, Tail) required to assemble a spaceship that can be used in-game for various perks and benefits.
- Lootboxes: NFT lootboxes containing NFT spaceship parts that can be minted, traded, or assembled into complete ships.
