Pixels is a free-to-play farming sim and MMORPG for PC and mobile (browser), focusing on resource gathering, skill advancement, and relationship building. Heavily inspired by Stardew Valley, the core gameplay emphasizes managing farms, personalizing spaces, and engaging with various industries and quests, including cave and dungeon exploration. These mechanics are set within a rich narrative that is gradually uncovered through the game’s missions and interactions. Additionally, Pixels integrates blockchain technology (Ethereum, Ronin) to record and secure ownership of digital assets such as NFTs (e.g. land, pets, avatars) and cryptocurrency ($PIXEL), and to support decentralized governance.

Game Features

  • Farming: The core industry of the game where players grow crops on public or private land. Owning land increases resource yields.
  • Quests & Exploration: Players engage in quests and explore the game world, including dungeons and caves, while uncovering storylines and interacting with the environment.
  • Cooking: Players can craft recipes using various ingredients to create meals that offer in-game buffs and effects.
  • Woodcrafting: Allows players to build furniture and tools from wood, using blueprints to unlock new items.
  • Land & Customization: Players use free, rented, or owned plots of land, each offering different levels of farming efficiency and space for customization using various decorations and structures.
  • Additional Industries: Players may also engage in woodcutting, apiary (beekeeping), foraging, flower breeding and mining to gather additional resources.

Blockchain Integration

Pixels features some form of decentralized governance using DAO protocols, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade various game-related digital assets (e.g. land, pets, avatars, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum blockchain (using Ronin) to record and secure transactions and ownership of said assets. Pixels also has its own cryptocurrency, $PIXEL, which serves as a medium of exchange, a reward token, and a DAO governance token.
Pixels is not be open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.

Ownable (NFTs)

  • Farms: Special farm plots represented by NFTs, allowing players to farm, gather resources, and craft. Each NFT farm is uniquely numbered, offering specific locations within the game.
  • Pets: NFT companions offering additional storage capacity, enhancing interaction radius, and unique stats (strength, speed, luck). Pets require care (food, water, playtime).
  • Avatars: Players can use or purchase avatars from over 50 integrated NFT collections, allowing customization of in-game characters with external digital assets.

Cryptocurrency

$PIXEL is a premium in-game currency in Pixels, used primarily for cosmetic and gameplay enhancement that don’t affect the core gameplay experience.
