Wild Forest is a free-to-play real-time strategy (RTS) game for PC (Windows, Mac) and mobile (Android, iOS) by Zillion Whales HQ. Its gameplay blends traditional RTS features, including base building, resource management, and direct control of units with deck building mechanics. Players build armies, capture territories, and aim to destroy opponents’ bases using units and spells from a deck of up to seven cards. Additionally, Wild Forest integrates blockchain technology (Ethereum/Ronin) to record and secure ownership of in-game assets such as NFTs (e.g. cards, skins, PFP) and cryptocurrency ($WF).

Game Features

  • Deck Building: Players utilize up to seven unit cards in battle, with over 25 units available at launch. The counter-unit mechanics and variety of unit types provide substantial tactical flexibility.
  • Various Maps: Players engage in battles on diverse maps where effective resource management and quick base development are essential for victory.
  • Day-Night Cycle: The day-night cycle affects battlefield visibility, with full visibility during the day and “fog of war” at night, offering tactical opportunities.
  • Clan Wars: Time-limited competitions between clans occur through PvP battles over territories. Participation requires ownership or rental of a Zeppelin NFT.
  • Leaderboard: Players compete for rewards such as the $WF token, exclusive skins, and high-tier unit NFTs.
  • Card Merging: Players can merge cards to increase their rarity and strength, which enhances their value in battle.

Blockchain Integration

Wild Forest features a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade many in-game digital assets (e.g. cards, skins, PFP, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum blockchain (via Ronin) to record and secure transactions and ownership of said assets. The game also has its own cryptocurrency, $WF, which serves as a medium of exchange and reward token.
Wild Forest is not open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.

Ownable (NFTs)

  • Unit Cards: Core elements of deck building, these NFT cards can be earned or purchased, merged to increase rarity, and used to create more powerful battle decks.
  • Unit/Base Skins: NFT cosmetic upgrades for units and bases allowing players to personalize their in-game presence.
  • PFP: NFT profile pictures offering unique in-game benefits to early adopters, such as castle ownership and priority access to future NFT sales.
  • Battle Passes: Unlock enhanced rewards and can be minted as NFTs, offering exclusive advantages in exchange for a one-time purchase.
  • Other NFTs: Future updates may include Emoji, Medals, and Banners NFTs, offering additional personalization options and competitive rewards.

Cryptocurrency

$WF is the primary utility token used within Wild Forest’s ecosystem. It facilitates player progression, premium purchases (e.g. battle passes, event tickets), and NFT sales.
