Castle of Blackwater is a free-to-play 2D social deduction game for PC (Windows/Mac) and mobile (planned), drawing inspiration from titles such as Among Us and Town of Salem. Up to 15 players are trapped in a castle where trust, deception, and deduction shape the gameplay. Players must work together to complete tasks and uncover hidden traitors who aim to sabotage their efforts. Each player is assigned a unique role within one of three factions, with specialized abilities designed to support their strategies. Castle of Blackwater employs blockchain technology (Ethereum and Avalanche) to record and secure ownership of optional in-game assets such as NFTs (e.g. characters, skins, pets) and cryptocurrency ($COBE).

Blockchain Integration
WhitepaperCastle of Blackwater features a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade many in-game digital assets (e.g. characters, skins, pets, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum and Avalanche blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof. The game also has its own cryptocurrency, $COBE, which serves as the primary in-game currency and reward token.
Castle of Blackwater is not open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
Ownable (NFTs)
- Character Collectibles: Tradable characters with unique traits, skins, and eligibility for exclusive tournaments.
- Cosmetic Collectibles: Visual items such as skins and animations, which are tradable and can be worn in-game.
- Pets: NFT companions that follow players around the castle, adding to character customization.

Cryptocurrency
$COBE is the in-game cryptocurrency that powers the blockchain economy of Castle of Blackwater. It can be used for bidding on characters, purchasing NFTs, and staking for rewards.
