RoboKiden is a free-to-play online multiplayer party shooter developed for Windows PC (with PS5, Switch, and Xbox planned) by The Breach Studios. The game introduces a team-based combat experience where players engage in battles using large robots and a variety of unconventional weaponry. Participants work collaboratively in a series of strategic and action-oriented scenarios, aiming to dominate the battlefield through the management of control points and the effective use of their mecha’s capabilities. RoboKiden employs blockchain technology (Ethereum/Avalanche) to record and secure ownership of in-game assets such as NFTs (e.g. weapons, items) and cryptocurrency ($KIDEN).
Game Features
- Multiple Game Mechanics: The game combines elements of third-person shooters, cooperative gameplay, and MOBA strategies.
- Character Selection: Players can choose from a range of characters, offering unique attributes and combinations of weapons and bots to tailor gameplay strategies.
- Weaponry and Bots: Players can utilize various weapons such as blasters and grenade launchers and deploy different types of bots, including Blastbots, Medbots, and Techbots, to assist or impede opponents.
- Giant Mode: This mode allows players to activate significant power-ups to perform advanced attacks and gain strategic advantages in battles.
Blockchain Integration
RoboKiden features a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade most in-game digital assets (e.g. weapons, armor, items, cryptocurrency) outside of the game, using smart contracts built on the Ethereum (NFTs) and Avalanche (crypto) blockchains to record and secure transactions and ownership thereof. The game also has its own cryptocurrency, $KIDEN, which serves as the primary in-game currency and reward token.
RoboKiden is not open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is prematurely shut down.
Ownable (NFTs)
- Troopers: Character-specific NFTs that enhance or modify a player’s abilities, offering benefits such as increased stats or special abilities.
- Bots: Automated allies or adversaries deployed during battles, including types like Blastbots (offensive), Medbots (healing), and Techbots (technical support).
- Celebratory Actions: NFTs representing in-game animations or emotes used to celebrate achievements or milestones.
- Shiny Variants: Rare NFTs with enhanced attributes and capabilities, offering increased $KIDEN generation and additional gameplay advantages.
Cryptocurrency
$KIDEN is the primary utility token used within the Robokiden ecosystem. It is used for in-game purchases, including the acquisition and trading of NFTs, and is also used to reward players through gameplay and NFT asset utilization. It is a fungible, Avalanche-based token limited to a total original supply of 50,000,000. The different ways to get $KIDEN outside of crypto markets are… (read more)
