The Beacon is an upcoming free-to-play fantasy action roguelite RPG for PC (Windows) and browser. The game is set in a fantasy world where players enter unique dungeons, battle monsters, and upgrade their combat prowess and style along the way. The core game features multiple game modes (e.g. solo, PVE and PVP), fast-paced roguelite action, a housing system with extensive customization, an MMO social hangout, and play-to-earn mechanisms. The Beacon integrates blockchain technology via the Treasure gaming ecosystem (Ethereum, Arbitrum) to record and secure ownership of digital assets earned or purchased by players, namely NFT assets (e.g. characters, skins, pets, furniture) and cryptocurrency. The Beacon integrates Treasure’s cryptocurrency ($MAGIC), NFT marketplace, and decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
Game Features
- Multiple Game Modes: Players can play in single-player and co-op PvE modes, in PVP modes, and socialize in an MMO-like world.
- Randomized Areas: Dungeons will be procedurally generated so that no two dungeons are ever the same.
- Housing System: Players can collect various house items (e.g. furniture) to customize their dwelling.
- Social Hangout: Players will be able to visit certain venues – the Tavern for example – and see other players in real time and hangout.
- Optional Web3: Blockchain elements are only optional. They are not required to enjoy the game.
- Play to Earn: Players may earn NFTs provided they hold a Founding Character.
- Free to Play: Players can play the game for free, but need to get a Founding Character to earn NFTs.

DocumentsThe Beacon is built on the Treasure Web3 gaming ecosystem, featuring decentralized governance using DAO protocols, and a partially player-owned economy where players can effectively own and trade most in-game digital assets (e.g. characters, skins, pets, furniture, crypto) inside and outside of the game using smart contracts built on the Ethereum blockchain (using Arbitrum layer) to record and secure transactions and ownership of said assets. The Beacon integrates the $MAGIC cryptocurrency, which serves as a medium of exchange for all NFT assets traded within the ecosystem, an in-game reward token, and a DAO governance token.
The Beacon isn’t currently open source. While ownership of digital assets is decentralized and secured on the blockchain, users may not be able to run the game in the event that its online service is shut down prematurely.
Ownable (NFTs)
- Characters: NFT characters such as Founding characters which give players access to exclusive features (e.g. play-to-earn).
- Skins: NFT character skins (e.g. torso, hats, legs ) that are wearable in-game for purely cosmetic purposes.
- Pets: NFT pets called the Moonfae that can be used in-game (e.g. breed for offsprings and earn more rewards).
- House items: NFT house decorations and furniture (e.g. bed, chest, stove).
- Consumables: Various NFT consumables (e.g. dye) to be used in-game for purely cosmetic purposes.
Cryptocurrency
$MAGIC is the cryptocurrency used in The Beacon, and in all other games built on the Treasure Web3 gaming ecosystem. It serves as a medium of exchange for NFT assets traded on the marketplace, as a reward token (some player rewards + staking rewards), and is also expected to develop into a DAO governance token.
